You missed the starter pack, here’s the « on set selfie ». A video where you take a selfie with different movie stars at their filming location. It’s a trend that anti-AI advocates will love to hate, as it embodies all the grievances they can reproach it for:
- Exacerbated narcissism
- Ad nauseam reproduction of the same prompt
- Energy waste
The first time I saw it, it was this gentleman who made it (see further in the article), but apparently, his prompt has « leaked » and we’ve started seeing other videos of the same genre.
I won’t give you my opinion on this trend, but we have to admit that it shows one thing: the level of realism achieved by AI-generated videos is crazy… We’re far from the Will Smith eating spaghetti video that looked like a dystopian horror film shot on ecstasy. From this point of view, it’s totally mind-blowing. No one could have imagined this even a year ago. A prompt can now create a video that could have cost several hundred thousand dollars, and certainly more, if a filmmaker from the 2000s had really wanted to make it.
You can be against the concept, but it still opens up creative perspectives. I’m not sure myself:
- Do a street interview with dead historical figures
- Interview the entire French football team one by one without having met a single player
- Create a family presentation with all your ancestors
- Have a product presented by different stars without having to film them
Anyway! Creatives will surely have much better ideas than me, even though, as the backlash with McDonald’s or Coca demonstrated, AI’s acceptance by the creative community worldwide is not won.
