As you know, we at Numerika are always on the lookout.
So when we saw some influencers on X reveal more about the new portable device that will change our lives, we couldn’t help but take a look. And what we saw… Well, this is it.

Specifically, it looks like a small pill that you stick in your ear. Like an AirPod, but, apparently, « better. »
« Better, » but why?
To understand, let’s go back to the origin of this incomprehensible diagram for the uninitiated that we are.
Everything is relative to Apple’s history and the designer who signed all its successes since the 2000s. We’re talking about: jony Ive. A talented designer with whom Steve Jobs conquered the planet and literally transformed our lives. That’s why we’re talking about the iPhone in the title.
But Steve Jobs eventually deciding to pass away (these things happen), notably because of his passion for apples and his firm belief that an apple a day would save him from cancer, Jony Ive felt greatly deprived. His genius co-creator having taken flight to the afterlife, this second genius needed to find an alter ego of his caliber.
The candidates, it must be said, were not numerous. And his choice, to general surprise, therefore turned to Sam Altman, the young head of OpenAI, undoubtedly not as brilliant as Steve Jobs, but possessing a well-stocked bank account.
Without further ado, the latter therefore signed a check for 6.5 billion dollars so that the former could pull off the iPhone trick again for him.
That’s an expensive magic trick, unless you know where the iPhone led Apple: to the firmament of the world’s richest and most profitable companies.
Jony had his new Steve. And Sam his new golden goose. And together, they were going to create the new iPhone.
Except that… in 2025, we weren’t going to reinvent the mobile phone, but something else. Obviously. We couldn’t pull off the iPhone trick twice.
Something else had to be found, but what on earth?!
Apparently: an egg. Or rather… an egg-shaped thing.
In any case, a gadget packed with AI that you would put in your ear to communicate with the world.
A pure marvel of technology that would connect to your phone and allow you to have amazing interactions with the digital world, promising you even more online services, even more advertising, to be even smarter and even more connected, and even more dependent on these gadgets than we currently are, assuming that’s even possible.
Hence this abstruse diagram, coming from who knows where, representing who knows what, but whose origin is guaranteed by some clever folks who would know someone who would know someone who would know someone who… in short, you get the idea… who would be in on the secret of the Foxconn factories in China where the famous gadget that will, once again, change our lives would be produced.
Honestly, we didn’t fully understand everything when reading the posts on the subject… but just imagine AirPods connected to AI, only better. There. Got it?
Of course, we’re joking about this, but understand that it’s not a joke. A recent article in The New York Times (i.e., serious and reliable people) reported on the frantic race in which tech giants were engaging (besides building data centers) to invent the electronic device of the future that would be as profitable as the iPhone.
No small feat, when you think about it.
